Quick and to the Point

Send us your submission pasted into the body of an email to fmcsubmissions@howlingwolfpress.com. Subject line, “FMCSubmissions” otherwise, your submission may not make it to our editors. Submissions sent to any other email address will not be considered.

Include in the body of the email,

Story Name (your title)

Author (your name/pen name)

Genre (in your opinion)

Word count (the number of words in your story)

Your story

(Please leave a single blank line in between each paragraph of your story.)

Before submission, please ensure your work is fully edited. (spelling, punctuation, etc.)

Please make sure you read and understand the guidelines as outlined above before you do so, especially the part about properly spacing your paragraph breaks.

Who We Want

We are eager to accept submissions by published authors and unpublished writers.

What We Want

All fiction, (for ages 18 and up)

FANTASY, DARK FANTASY, HISTORICAL FANTASY, TIME TRAVEL FANTASY,GRIMDARK, HORROR, THRILLER, PARANORMAL, AND BIZARRO.

(For other fiction not mentioned, please send a 250-word pitch for consideration.)

Short Fiction

Length: 2,500 to 4,500 words

Flash Fiction

Length: Up to 1,000 words

(Flash fiction should never be more than 1,000 words.)

Poetry

Poems should be no more than a page, (approximately 225 words) or less. Subject matter to follow the above genres, and you may submit up to two poems per submission with triple spacing between them.

Articles

Pertaining to authors, genres, coming releases, distribution outlets, and so on.

Cartoons / Comic Strips

Original works only.

What We Don’t Want

Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, sexual violence, etc. They may appear as elements in your fiction, but if your story, poem or article pushes any of these as an agenda, it will be rejected.

For legal reasons, we cannot accept fan fiction or stories that make use of established intellectual properties, so please don’t send.

How Much We Want

We plan on purchasing four to five stories and two to three poems, as well as two or three articles every four months.

Reprints, (Not as a rule)

Unless prior permission is requested, and we accept

Simultaneous Submissions, and Multiple Submissions

Simultaneous submissions must be indicated in the submission email. We do not accept multiple submissions; one submission per email, please. Finally, please do not resubmit stories that you have already submitted, no matter how much you have revised them, unless we specifically ask for it.

Payment

We pay $10.00 for each short story, $5.00 for each poem, article, and flash fiction piece, and $2.50 per cartoon/Comic Strip. Payment is through PayPal exclusively, unless other arrangements are made. Payments left unclaimed after one month will be rerouted to pay for hosting and other costs.

Legal Rights, Copyright, etc.

We purchase Nonexclusive One-Time Digital Publishing Rights, which means that we will publish your work once on our website. All other rights, including the right to reprint material published on Howling Wolf Press, revert to the author immediately after publication. All works published in Full Moon Chronicles are archived indefinitely, though may be removed at the author’s request.

Keep in mind that most publications will not publish pieces that have been previously published. After your work is published by us it can only be marketed as a reprint, which severely limits the number of markets that will accept it. By allowing Howling Wolf Press to publish your work, you are giving up your First Publishing Right for payment as outlined above.

Full Moon Chronicles is published in the United States and abides by US Copyright Law.
